Like his fellow Italians of a century ago, the Futurists, sang about machines, Barabeke sings about digital machines with similar revolutionary fervor, not driven by vitalism nor will to power. His main mission is to plant the seed of a new humanist and liberal tradition, ethically grounded in the 2kTenCom, and further expressed through the Gospel Of Demian, a sci-fi novel of biblical inspiration that is meant to inspire a counterculture that can keep us free and dignified in this digital age.
Most of Barabeke’s visual art is conceived as a shamanic journey in digital glitchy lands, often starting from photos he wildly post-processes, mirrors, and blends on themselves, like he was using them as portals to other dimensions, but also transfiguring in the same way ancient paintings like those of Leonardo Da Vinci.
In 2023, Barabeke embraced generative art with Mona Lisa Reloaded, his most ambitious series, in which he tries to revive the beauty, mystery, and power of Da Vinci’s art with the aid of AI.
Previously, Barabeke used AI almost as a divination tool, to magnify the myriads of digital glitches that characterize his art and to get deeper into it. The visions found inside Barabeke’s art are collected in The Journey Within and The Giant Kahuna (among the largest digital artworks ever created with its 6.7 Gigapixels).
Barabeke participated in the culture war as an independent, exposing the dark roots of woke ideology, denouncing its crimes against minors, and making fun of it with the collection 50 Shades of Rainbow. This made him almost a dissident artist but he doesn’t care.
Barabeke believes in crypto as the technology upon which a more free and humanist future can be built. He was among the first to mint art as NFT.
